Seeing with your "Heart Sight"

When I was five years old, my mother gave me a book for my birthday called My Little Artist.  In this story, a little girl is taught by her grandmother about seeing with her "heart sight," the way through which an artist sees the world.  Together they explore their backyard, finding the most elegant, intimate, and beautiful moments in nature that only an artist can find.  The way the light shines through a pea pod exposing the tiny round treasures hidden inside.  The way a tree learns to dance when the wind blows.  The way the sun can completely transform a scene so quickly and effortlessly.  I can remember, after reading this book, making a conscience effort to see the world with my heart sight and feeling guilty that I had to remind myself to do it.  This practice, however, like exercising a muscle, strengthened my heart sight until it came naturally.  I like to think of my heart sight as a pair of invisible glasses that I never take off.  This blog is titled Art Sight because these are the works that I created by looking through these glasses and interpreting the world in the only way I know how, with my heart.
